Hi everyone, i have a 8 month old bitch who at first was doing fantastic with her training ie commands. Just lately she has become disintrested, i make our sessions together enjoyable for both me and my dog. We finish on a good note. But just lately it seems like a real effort for her to be bothered in doing anything. She still does what i ask but in a very (cant be bothered) way. Just lately she has come into season does anyone think this may have some effect on her concentration. OR do you think i could try something different ie tips anyone could give me would be fantastic and much aprecciated thank you all very much.

Lewis, coming into season definitely has a pronounced behavioural effect on most young bitches. She is also passing through puberty, so to speak, and there are some serious hormonal changes going on. She is probably just confused at the moment, and this will pass. Bob-O

lewis she will come back to her usual self after her season as bob-o says serious hormonal changes going on just give her time and lots of tlc and make things extra fun for her for the next few weeks good luck SHOSTRING

I have a 10 month old male that I'm having a similar experience with. Can he be going through male puberty? Thanks...

certainly there are changes going on with coming in season and puberty....these pups are still babies ;; don't rush the training...let pups be pups ...play with them ...no formal training..there are many ways to imprint and teach commands while the puppy is just playing with a ball, tug..whatever his.. her..choice of toy is..... and they don't even realize it ..because they are having to much fun ...formal training at that age "forget about it"......don't be in a hurry.... keep the spirit alive and high....
