I recently bought a 1 yr 3 mos old bitch. I was told that she had her first season last January and since she was still very young the previous owner decided not to breed her. however just today while i was bathing her i noticed that when she sits her tits/breast looks a little plump, so i checked it and when i pinch a white fluid comes out. the fluid that comes out is watery, whitish?
why is my bitch lactating? is it possible that they bred her and she didnt get pregnant? any other reasons other than pseudopregnancy?
thank you

Bitches that have a false pregnancy can lactate. Their body believes it's pregnant, just they don't have pups.
However, I've never heard of a bitch lactating without being bred.

Deng - what's happening to your female can usually happens but in very rare cases. I dont wanna say that she might be pregnant because i cannot tell by the only information provided. the best thing to do is a blood test. take her to your vet and make a blood test. its 100% accurate. thanks

Yes, a female can have a false pregnancy and lactate. She does not need to have been bred for this to happen. Most of the time they do not get
milk but I have had a couple females in the past do this.

Hi Denq
That your female is lactating is not an unusual pheromone. If she were living as a wild dog, she would have been able to help feeding other puppies in the family group even though it wasnt her own puppies. That is a way Mother Nature helps them to survey. If it becomes a problem for you or your female, the vet can give her medicine to overcome this period. But if you consider using her in breeding, it would not be a good idea to start with medication.
