Sitting with tears in eyes I hope that the thought that he will be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge will comfort you

Does any one know the poem Madeline Pickup always published in the Dog press when on of her beloveds died? It ended saying what a barking there will be in heaven when I arrive. I couldn't read it without crying. I am reminded now of all those who ran on ahead of me in the past. To Redcap - This too will pass - my heartfelt condolences Carol

I'm really sorry, Redcap. They live for us and it's brutal when they go. There's nothing I can say to take away the pain, except that I understand. This is the only drawback to having these dogs---you put so much love and time into them, and they are with us for so short a time. I heard once that we are meeting and dealing with the same people in life--that we, and they, keep coming back. Whether it's true or not--anyone's guess. But, I've taken to believing this is true for dogs---it helps greatly to deal with the loss of my best friend. Here's hoping you quickly find your best friend again.

It has been 6 years, I still can not say goodbye. You love them all, but this one just took my soul.

Thank you all for your kind words. Still too hard to talk about. Saw her in a dream, alone at the gates. I've had many dogs and each passing puts a knife in my heart.

Redcap, sometimes when I'm driving, I think I see my boy running in an open field. A few times I've almost stopped to call to him. It's sad in one way but it gives me comfort to think that he's wild and free now. I know he's at the gate too, you girl isn't alone.

[[I know he's at the gate too, you girl isn't alone.]] OMG this thread is killing me, that is very touching Blitzen. My condolences, Melanie

What a lovely thread--it touches all of us who have lost a dear companion. I've saved all the poems to read again and share when needed. Thanks to everyone. I still see my Gina behind "her" chair in my bedroom--it was her Batcave. I'd like to think I'll see her again.....
