I was in the first group of 6 number 5 to go so that was good all the other 5 dogs in her class were 2.5 years old upwards so she did not do too badly at just 12 months old

May I ask what is involved in the social test and is a prerequisite for the show rating? Thanks.

To be honest i put in for it but it was my first time doing a Social Test and i did not know what was going to happen
Anyway they put out some cones and you walked the dog around them, a group of people walked around anti clockwise and you had to walk the dog in between them in a snake like pattern the opposite way to them, Then you tell your Dog to Sit or down about 8 yards away from the group take off the leash and leave the Dog, walk into the group of people they come in and close you in so the dog cannot see you
You then call the dog to you and he must come right into the tight group and sit, then the group opens up and you walk out with your dog
Then you tie your dog up and tell it to Sit or down then you walk behind a hide out of sight
The other People in your group with there dogs 5 more, and the group of people who did the circle walk by your dog back and forth twice, Your dog must stay where it is
When all 6 people and there Dogs have finished you then do a traffic test with a Cycle going back and forth ringing the bell a Jogger goes back and forth and a car does much the same as the BH
Each time you do an exercise you walk back to the place you were two yards between each Dog and Handler
The Dogs must not show any aggression towards other dogs or people, Before you start the Judge checks the Chip or Tattoo again the Dog must not show anything to the one doing it
Thats about it, They sign your work books and they give you a form with OK for Very Good then a another column for Good passing then a Negative where you fail on each of the Bits you do, Izzy was OK, meaning very good on all the lot
They give you a medallion signed to say you passed, and a filled signed form to send away to the Powers to be for registration,
I cannot say it represents a great amount but it is a start for her and it shows she can get on with other strange Dogs and People, next is her BH when she is old enough to take it, but possibly before a Show rating, if i can find a place to take her
This Social Test is nothing to do with a show rating

Over there they show how to do it with fresh cut veal,
In the USA, they call it jimmy dean tracking. But nobody admitts to it.
Susan Borgan had a 98 in tracking and a 100 in protection work'
only to slide on the obediance with a 76. I looked at that malinois bloodline, good pedigree,
tough dog, I mean for reals a tough dog. Good show though, Susan is for
sure in the cards that this dog is going to the top of the competition. She needs
a good Belgium trainer to show her how to work those tough dogs in obedience.

When you do the BH with Izzy in Begium later this year, will there be a similar social test after the obedience routine or is this The social test done?
