Mystere

Good on ya, Scott!!! Most of probably began with an American line gsd. My first gsd was a pound puppy that my dad gave me as a Valentine's Day present when I was 8. I still judge my gsds by that bitch.

Julie, Peoople who are inclined to leave simply do- leave. Those who announce their departure from this forum are usually attention-seekers looking for others to ask them to stay as a way of stroking their egos and for a boost to their self-esteem. Barring actually being "outted," they don't go anywhere. So much for their "word" meaning much.

july9000...That is just what the AKC wants you to believe. Yes they came from the same background, but along the way they have been beaten up in breeding. Please don't sit their in your computer chair and tell me the AMERICAN Shepherd does not have issues. I have owned some in the past which pushed me to only importing Shepherds. Also this so called Champions that people speak of are the pretty little shows that the useless AKC puts on. Nowhere comapred to a Sieger Show. The AKC needs to get real about what the club represents and enforce the breedings of the German Shepherd where they use the same rules as the SV. This would never happen as 3/4 of the dogs would NEVER be able to pass Schutzhund or the BH for that matter

Now you've got me wondering, Mystere. Was this an American lines dog? How long ago was this, and what made her so special?

I'm with the CKC and it is still written GERMAN SHEPERD!!

Look I know you are frustrated about it but until we find a way to fix it, either by splitting or having varieties I am still owners of pure GSD.  And to tell you the truth I don't think it will ever be fix..AKC doesn't give a shit about it (CKC either).
They have standard and they have judge who are the ones who place the dogs.  Those are the one who set what's correct or not.  They are suppose to be the expert so people follow their advise and look at what's winning.

Now how come we have dogs that are all suppose to fit the standard that are so different?? How come we all interpret the standard so differently?? They pretty much are the same except for minor things..

I don't think I will see the day when we all come to an agrement and just accept that there is different type for different work..

Sunsilver, This was, literally, decades ago, so probably HUNDREDS of dog generations ago. What was so special about her? She was the smartest dog I ever met. Primate smart. She understood damn near everything said to her. She could be directed to do 3 or 4 things and she would do them in sequencw. She had excellent judgement. She watched over all us kids (half the neighborhood) as we played and ran and scremed and laughed ... She KNEW what was fun-screaming and ignored it. She also knew when someone got hurt and she'd come to check it out. She babysat my little sister (8 yrs younger) and it got so when she cried, nobody made a move to go pick her up, UNLESS the dog showed up that meant there really was something to address, as opposed to just trying to get attention. She helped that little heathen escape her crip on a regular basis, served as her living walker, would not allow anyone to spank the heathen's hands, and forcibly, when necessary, prevented the kid from getting to stairs, touching hot things, etc. She also put up with a lot of abuse from a toddler. :-) She was protective. She attacked to protect me I real situations on multiple occasions. Even when the cops were called, they never wrote a report on her, always stating "shew did what she was supposed to do." They did, however, always get in line when she had puppies, even when no one knew who the sire was. She is, literally, the reason I am alive today. She pulled me out of the Ohio river, when I waded in thinking I could swim. I was suddenly in over my head and ....I could NOT swim. The kids with me stood on shore screaming, but she came in and swam back with me hanging on to her. I am a survivor of extreme child abuse. She attacked my abuser , who was attempting to smother me in my sleep. Yes, a family member. She was a hard, hard dog. This was decades ago and everyone used harsh, compulsion in training. I remember some of what he did and today, I would not tolerate anyone training a dog that way. It didn't break her and she never showed fear of anyone, including my dad, who was not allowed to spank me, if she was around. :-) She met me either at the school yard, or at the front door evey day. She made a child (me) feel safe in a very unsafe environment.

I don't know what you have bred (and personally since you have done only shit like you say) I don't want to know!!  Maybe you have failed and you are frustrated about it ( bad breeding happens in every lines)..anyway it's not my business..Good luck with your REAL GSD now..

Enough said ..I will go walked my garbage dogs now..(did I say they could walk on a straight line also..not just circle!!).LOL

july, I'll put it up against anything you have accomplished Start the ball rolling.

I did not fail in AKC. I bred and finished many AKC Champions (and a couple of CKC) from many top AKC dogs. I simply realized that no one can out breed genetics and AKC genetics are junk.

Are you really so ignorant that you think dogs with 32, 64 and even 128 lines back to the same dog  (in 30 years)is a good thing. I'm sure you are turning out some real ball busters. How about some examples of your contributions to the GSD world.

Or are you like 90% of the people on here who only have "keyboard" experience

Here is a wink back at you.

Those "smileys" really make one seem the expert.

The reason I was DRIVEN to the German lines was the myriad health problems and temperament issues of my last Ambred, the products of multiple ROMs and Champions, including a select male sire (Woodacres Dakota). The current Ambreds, generally, are simply not physically or mentally comparable, IMO, to the European lines...or to the American lines of 25-30 years ago.
