For those who are mocking the NRA's proposal to place Cops in schools. That's exactly what Bill Clinton proposed in 2000.

Ninja, most of the disagreements with LaPierre are in regard to his refusal to bring any discussion whatsoever about gun control to the table. Over 60% of NRA members are saying that he no longer represents their best interests or those of the general public. He has excused himself from any discussions about gun control by appointing another in his stead. 

Did you see Meet the Press this morning? If you did, you will know that both Reps and Demos are in agreement with him as far as having a serious discussion about police presence in all schools. Fox News has once again blown it out of proportion to play to their right wing viewers. Many schools already do it; it's nothing new. 

Solving the problem of looney tunes killing innocent people is a very complicated issue; it's going to take alot of open minded discussion and cannot be solved wthout critical thinking from all.  No one thing, police presence, banning assault weapons, etc is going to keep any of us safe from nuts with guns....ever. Anyone who thinks that gun control should not even be a part of the discussion is a big part of the problem.

Actually Blitzen the Democrats have an agenda and it is total gun elimination. That is exactly why they are completely satisfied with a certain amount of gun violence. That is why they gave guns to the Mexican Cartels. And that is why gun prosecutions under the Obama Administration are DOWN 40%.

The reality for my town now, is for Police present at our schools. In light of the potential for copycat murderers, it is welcomed and seems prudent. I don't want this to be the state of affairs permanently, though

I'd rather we fixed our societies' fascination with building individual arsenals. MIchelle Obama wrote a letter to the Editor in the Ct Post today, and she promises her husband will not let this matter end up going no where, he will fight for the changes needed to keep our children's schools safe  from future massacres.  I am sure that means gun control, and IMHO, the N\RA can just stuff it.

I agree, police presence is not a bad idea for now, but should not be considered a permanent solution or the only action worthy of discussion. Why does it always have to come down to - they want to take our guns so I'm against anything they want to talk about even if it might mean making this a safer country. I hear it here every day, it makes me want to scream.

In the aftermath of Newtown, I thought for sure we would see a willingness for LaPierre to at least talk about reasonable gun control. What more do we need to happen to put it on the table opened to discussion without prejudice?

I have news for you the government wants to take the second amendment away along with many more of your rights.

Remember when the government gets involved its not always good ask the native americans. 
 
Remember Mt Carmel well your Government did that. 20 children and babies burned to death yea your governments best thinking at work.
