I'm having problems posting, as usual anymore. I had to click submit to an empty box then edit to actually post.....just thought I'd mention.....
Anyway , I was reading an article that stated Gaia (the Earth) will shake humans off like fleas by reversing the movement of tectonic plates causing massive splits in continents, & that the solar flares will fry everyone; or we will all attain Homo Spiritus stature, be able to telecommunicate, etc....... But the writer wasn't sure which way it would go, LOL. SO....what's your theory?
I'm hoping something good happens, I really need  a happy event. Everything I've been going through lately has sucked.

Hey, Kalibeck... I had this recent conversation with my 16 year old son:

Him: Oh, no! I have a swim meet tomorrow. But, GF and I have our anniversary!   And you know, there will never be another date like it while we are alive!
(Tomorrow is 12/12/12 in case someone was unawares...)

ME:  OHhhhh, that's too bad! But you know you do have to go to the swim meet.  Well, at least it's not 'The End of The World!"

Him: Very funny MOMmmmm!

Kalibeck, are there any other civilizations that claimed a specific time for the end of the world?  I wander something with them though......They didn't have leap years back then, so would that mean the "end of the world" as they claimed would happen....was suppose to have already happened? lol.  If you look at the bible it would go to say that no human knows when it will happen.  I'm just curious though if other civilizations claimed certain dates as well.

its the end of the calendar cycle.....what did we expect them to carve all those little figurines for eternity? :)

I am not so much worried about 12/21/2012..i am worried about 12/22/2012...all the nut jobs who sold everything, got prepared and than realized that nothing happened will be just a little bit upset....i recently came across Craiglist posting.."everything must go this weekend...will take BO...not gonna need it after 12/21/2012"...so...be aware....

Really LF?  I didn't think anyone really fell for that garble.  There are a few things I could use, maybe I can find  a sucker around here who will give it away since they think they won't be needing it.

This Mayan Calendar end of the world lore has been grist for the history channel and such for many years and boosts ratings because it tends to stimulate folks basic survival fears which they are able to repress most of the time.

Some experts have said there was an error in the calculations and the Mayan Calendar end was last December (nothing happened).  Of course there is always the outside chance some desperate govt could institute a false flag attack somewhere on this upcoming date for maximum psychological impact, but the odds are very remote.

It's a great story that breeds a great fantasy and the History Channel has used this to their benefit along with UFO programs and other disaster themes.  There are lots of strange events in history and some believe that history repeats itself, goes in patterns.  In history most empires last little more than 200 years and decline in stages.  Some experts believe that America is nearing the end of its cycle and is going thro.ugh similar stages of degeneration. Certainly the whole prepper movement has started to go mainstream with many folks making reasonable preparation for natural disasters, especially after Sandy.   The media loves to emphasize the crackpots and not the normal folks who prepare in sensible and reasonable ways.  http://endoftheamericandream.com/archives/why-are-preppers-hated-so-much

My granddaughter is truly frightened, & stressed out over this. I pointed out to her that just in the short space of time I've been alive the world has been slated to 'end' several times already, & we're all still here (well most of us anyway)! Remember Heavens Gate & the Halle-Bop comet? Just one of many predictions of doom. I don't know if other civilizations have picked specific dates or not. Probably events were chosen to predict or announce doomsday. Just the fact that we have such a term as a figure of speech leads me to believe we've been worried about this for a long time! jackie harris

Oh, & I know why preppers are hated so much, LOL! 'Cause when the haters are wandering over a decimated landscape looking for a secure place & a scrap of food, the preppers will pepper them with lead! LOL!
