People in NY & NJ are waiting 6 hrs in line for gas:

Death Toll is over 100 and climbing.

People are dumpster diving for food:

Gas on craiglist advertised for $15.00 a gallon:

No Food or clothing:

No transportation:

No fresh water or electricity.

People deficating in the corridors of public housing:

Airports are running out of Jet fuel:

Gas rationing in NJ:

Where is Obama? I thought he was going to cut thru all the red tape. Elderly people are starving to death in their unheated, no electricty, public housing. Looters are having a field day. Remember looting is just re-distributing wealth, so the White House must consider it a positive thing.

Sorry I forgot to add the left's favorite line ( at least when the right is running the country) which accompanies all misery: Women, Children and Minorities hit the hardest. There now I feel much better.

Hope & change at it's finest hour.

Why is looting a bad thing ? If I was in a situation like that looting for me would be a everyday mission. Especially if older seniors, kids and babies were starving, no clothes or had no means of shelter or heat with the current weather. If I'm physically able and healthy I would be one of the so called looters looting wood and tools to build shelter and or fire, looting whatever food, medical supplies and clothes I could find within the area by diplomatic means or finder is keeper, taking it back to those people. I would make sure those people have the best chance at survival.

In a situation like on the East Coast now, it is a survival situation, not where the hell is the President to help BS. He isn't gonna build DIY shelters, stitch up an old ladies leg or feed a baby that just lost it's mom. Some things need to be done ASAP to survive. People who know those people will do it ASAP. Not the government.

Get the government outta the way and more people would make it to a hospital, get warm, fed, sheltered and be cared for because government isn't there to stop those that are able to save life.

DUH !!!

I heard that Cuomo told Obama not to come to NY because it would cause too much distraction....LE would be taken from where they are needed in order to cover the Prez's butt. He's not supposed to go and shovel sewage out of crumpled houses. He's supposed to PRESIDE over the disaster, which I believe he is doing. It's not like back in the olden days before the TELEPHONE and now he has the INTERNET to aid in communication.

I do not support Obama, however I have lived up to two weeks after hurricanes no clean water other than what I had prepared for and same conditions and NEVER has anyone ever came to see if the kids and I were ok. We had to depend on ourselves. Twice in VA and once in TN. Longest was 12 days no power from tornadoes. Not once did anyone ever come check if we were living or needed help. Perhaps people who have never experienced hardship from storms in the north now will think differently towards people in the south when it happens to them yearly. I feel sorry for people in dire needs there and this is not meant against them, but I cannot help but be bitter that they all seem to rush to the aide of New York and some areas even now in this storm and not everyone in trouble like the people in the lesser income areas or country areas of jersey and NY. It seems help only comes to the higher known/ money making and tourist areas ie city when they are hit.

Newbie: That is just sad that no one checked up on you? Resources being allocated in a disaster has a lot to do with the leadership in the individual towns or cities, I do believe. Since this has been the third storm event that has knocked out our town's power for a week minimum, in less than two years, it is remarkable how they all seem to be so much better at getting things done, after this Sandy hurricane, arguably the worst one. Not only that, but the everyday citizens are much better prepared when it does happen.

I would thnk allowing looters a free pass is akin to a no confidence vote in society, at large. I think we can blame or commend Obama on the emergency response of any federal government agencies, as that is his responsibilty.  It was learned from the horror of Katrina, that the President indeed is responsible for seeing that FEMA is effective.

BE4U, maybe there will be a wool shortage in the near future and someone will be looting your stockpile of yarn to be. That would be okay with you, if all they had to do was prove they had goosebumps and you just happened to not be home? You have been waiting for the days of lawlessness, haven't you? It will be your pleasure, is my guess. Thinking

Ninja.......
1) each one of is responsible for preparing for such things.........and there was a week's notice.
2) volunteers from the community, corporations and our great nation can and do out perform FEMA every time they come together.
3) prez obama is campaigning.....

President Obama said he is cutting thru the red tape.

Well FEMA evidently has No bottled water; in fact FEMA began soliciting bids (yes bids) from vendors to suppy bottled water just YESTERDAY. How long is this going to take?

A real president would have said get it wherever you can they need it now.

"A real president would have said get it wherever you can they need it now."

Hate to burst your bubble but Obama is a real President voted by the people.

You might want to read this release and quit believing everything the neo-con websites write. BTW, this hurricane response is a million times better than the response to Katrina.

I don't think anyone is dying from thrist, unlike Katrina.
