What I don't understand is in 2008, Congress had an approval rating of 19%, yet 81% were reelected. How can that happen ? LMAO
by beetree on 06 November 2012 - 00:11
That is why people shouldn't put all their stock into polls, BE4U. People like to keep a balance of power in check. Unfortunately or fortunately it keeps "real change" at a snails pace.

And Romney is going to change this how? Is he going to wave a magic wand and all of a sudden the super rich are going to start investing. lol. The super rich are scared they may have to pay higher taxes and they are using that to scare people. What happened when George gave the largest tax breaks ever to the rich, how did the economy grow from that move? The rich aren't going to suddenly start investing as they know the money in tax havens is safe. Did Mr Romney put his money in off shore accounts when Obama became president, no his money was already in those accounts and what makes you think that Romney the man of liquidate and close can instill this confidence you are talking about? I don't think a person ought to be elected who chooses to put the majority of their money in off shore accounts, seems pretty un-American to me almost like teason.
I see very bad things happening in this country to some of the people who can least afford Romneys austerity programs. Namely the elderly, mentally ill, disabled, working poor and the extremely poor.
Have you ever lived on earnings below the poverty level? Have you ever had to live pay check to pay check? Robbing Peter to pay Paul? Wondering how you will pay if a loved one becomes ill? Wondering where your next meal is coming from? Wondering if you will have a roof over your head tomorrow? So, all Romney and Ryan are going to do is make the little people suffer that much more. I pray everyday that this does not happen to some of the people I know and care about. My neighbors barely getting by on social security because the companies (the rich) promised them a pension only to take it away after retirement. The lady down the street who has mental illness and can barely survive on disability. The working poor who count on food stamps to feed their children. I just can't imagine the suffering these people will endure if Romney and Ryan win, who fing cares about the rich not feeling confident when so many lives will be on the line.
I think I am done with this mess as the rich folks feelings and insecurities are way more important than the struggling poor working families. Good lord what has this country become that we care more for the wealthiests confidence level and less about the down and outs. Over and out-flip/flop.

You just happen to be so wrong about thinking rich people just want their money in safe havens. Rich people like their money to work for them and cash sitting around in an off shore account is no better than burying gold under the rose bush* in this current, no-to-slow growth business climate....* no pun intended, lol.
No super rich person is "scared" of paying taxes, that is another misconception you harbor. They just are amazed that government really does want 38-60 cents out of every dollar they make, and when it becomes your reality, you'll feel that shock, too. I am an optimist for America the Land of Opportunity, that is your dream too, remember that?
Romney won't need to use a magic wand, he already knows who is a player and who is not, is my educated guess.
Yes, I do have: I was so poor stories, that I could tell. I even collected food stamps at one time, bet you never imagined that! I think your fears for the disadvantaged will be proved to be unfounded. You make it sound like any one who made a success beginning from meager means will automatically forget the less fortunate. That is a character trait not bound by a party, though it makes for a good scare tactic.

Then why does Romney have so much money stashed in off shore accounts? Isn't that un-American to want to be president but have the majority of your money in overseas accounts.
Sorry, I don't have old money backing me. I have had to fight and claw for all I have.

There are a lot of people who are poor or underpaid because of the lack of jobs. The poor economy etc.
We need a president and congress to jump start the economy. Is Romney going to do this? I have no idea but Obama has had 4 years and we have gone totaly backwards. His performance if unacceptable IMO.
In four years he hasn't come up with a budget. He just keeps printing money.
But the bottom line is, there just isn't any more money left and Obama keeps increasing the spending. So unless they fix the economy those poor people may just end up with nothing.
There was an article out yesterday saying the "per person debt" in the US is now 35% higher than Greece.

I am not rich. We watch every dime in this household and waste nothing. We still manage to ut aside some for retirement, and pay for everyone's medical insurance ourselves without a gov demand to do it because we are responsible and do not live above our means or live on credit. This does not make me want Obama. We have been so much worse off with him in office than ever before. I do not understand why on here people keep saying anyone that wants anti Obama must be rich or assuming that anyone that does not want Obama automatically will vote Romeny. I see it more that people like those in banks and real estate/ land profiteers/ landlords and contractors that buy up foreclosure properties are the ones that love having Obama in office. They are making money hand over fist on the bowed backs of so many out of job Americans and yet scream that Mitt Romeny is an awful person because his business cash comes from in danger businesses that have not been bankrupted but yet are still going and still employing people after he bought into them unlike most businesses that Obama gave money to after he was elected and coincidently those beusinesses contributed to his campagin.

Obama has had 4 years to do something, he did but not enough and reason Republicans wouldn't help him do it, they wanted to ruin his presidency even if it would ruin the country itself and people's lives and businesses. Obama did achieve a good deal of what he promised you, he's out of Iraq and the new health system is there, for the rest ask the Republicans for answers not Obama.

Many people like me want no parts of his new medical system. My new MRI's for the last three months have reflected the changes that cause me hardship already. Changes after having the same medical insurance for 15 years, it has changed drasticallly what I have to pay in the last month as we approach Obamacare.

Another joke? "Obama has had 4 years to do something, he did but not enough and reason Republicans wouldn't help him do it,"
What about the fact that there was democratic control of the house and senate his year or so in office (http://spectator.org/blog/2012/09/03/the-democrats-faulty-memory)? BTW, they still control the house.
