GSD Admin (admin)

by GSD Admin on 26 December 2012 - 20:12

Assault rifles people, not your precious beloved guns.

by joanro on 26 December 2012 - 21:12

Ok, I'll take your word for the ET pics. Never saw or heard of them. For my times, the movie ROOTS had a tremendous positive effect on people.

When you say "for the times"; that is a manifestation of desensitization. People get used to seeing awful things, and the awfulness becomes less awful. That's One of the problems with people playing violent Internet games. PAC MAN was considered violent "for the times".

"So i guess talking about the blood sacrafice of millions of children in America might not be about the NRA."

Ooooh!  I wondered when somebody was going toss that rotten fish onto the dock!  "Blood sacrifice"...really.  Cue to warnings of microchips being implanted in us against our will, the evil, wicked Zionists, and the march to Armageddon!

Let's stick to the subject, at least in this thread, OK?

joanro, I believe you and I are of the same generation...so how is it that you're not familiar with the kidnapping and murder of Emmett Till, the acquittal of the men who murdered him, and the role this abomination and travesty of justice played in breathing life into the civil rights movement?  I remember it being covered in one of my American History classes in 7th or 8th grade...

Speaking of that murder is far from a 'racist' action--unless you're somehow trying to paint GSD Admin as being anti-Caucasian by making reference to Emmett Till?

I agree! Past atrocities, are that, in the past! This is a modern day scourge of our society, it is our making, we  need to own up to it, and change it.  I take the below letter very seriously, myself, and have said, I plan to hold Michelle and Obama, to it.  Gun fanaticism and the glorification of gun culture needs to be stopped.  No longer will it be easy to pass out excuses with a mere slick saying. There will be discussion to figure out what our society needs to change, and then we will do it.

Attitudes towards the 2nd amendment and an overhaul based on a realistic view of what constitutes a reasonable amount of firepower for the protection of self and family. We can start there. I don't think personal military style arsenals are the way to go. It doesn't take much hindsight to declare that the one Adam Lanza's mom assembled, certainly should not have existed in the household of a mentally and violently challenged, Adam Lanza.  His mother is stupidly selfish in my eyes for never seeing that. Sorry, I know she is a victim, as well, too, but she is somewhat responsible for how she ended up dying. Sometimes we pay for our self-inflicted blindness, her blind spot for her troubled son needs to be examined in relation to how much did the medical system fail for the Lanza's, and what extent did that play into the final circumstances that led to Adam Lanza's final deadly actions.

.... below is an excerpt from:  Michelle Obama: A letter to the Newtown community
"... And I want you to know that this is just the beginning. As my husband has said, in the coming weeks, he will use all the powers of his office to engage citizens from across this country to find ways to prevent tragedies like this one. ..."

Hexe, WHAT? gsdadmin threw that at me. I don't know of the name. It sounds familiar from a movie perspective, but I cannot say that I ever heard of it in history class. But then, we had 100 students in history class and Edtv was being implemented. Class was held in the auditorium and with my last name being down the alphabet, I was way at the back of the room and couldn't see shit. So, I guess I missed it.
I never, ever, implied anything of gsdadmin being racist; he is the one who wove that word into the discussion. (I'll go back and review the posts, if I'm wrong I'll correct my error).

Ninja is correct, automatic weapons, those that fire continuously with one pull of the trigger, have been outlawed since 1934 unless you have a special dealer license (Class III) from the ATF and it is very time consuming and expensive to get and it was $3,000 per 3 years 20+ years ago so I am not sure what the fee is for a 3 year license now.  You can only sell to another Class III dealer.  My ex-husband was a Class III dealer and it was more of a pain than it was worth.  Regular visits by ATF, your life under a microscope, and paperwork that is a nightmare.

Assault weapon (automatic) is so often confused with semi automatic weapon.  Also I find how the action, "assault", is now placed in front of weapon to elicit an emotional response rather interesting.

”Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the outcome of the vote.” ~Benjamin Franklin

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government" -- Thomas Jefferson

"Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest."-- Mahatma Gandhi

"Taking my gun away because I might shoot someone is like cutting my tongue out because I might yell `Fire!' in a crowded theater."-- Peter Venetoklis

”The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it.”~Thomas Jefferson

I think I have all the spelling errors taken care of lol

Totaly agree, he was dangerous and she was trying to get him commited. She also said you can never take your eye off him. IMO at the very least she should have gotten her guns out of the house, until getting him commited was resloved.

Ok, Hexe, go to page four. That is where gsdadmin used pic of Emmett Till in an analogy to pics of slaughtered kids.

Quite frankly, I don't think that anything positive would ever come of having such pictures available for twisted minds to use. Hence my reference to desensitization.
