People from North America send their bitches away to Germany all the time for breeding. I have seen a lot of ads recently advertising stud dogs from such countries as India, for example. If there was a male you thought would suit your female well, would you send her to a country where perhaps many females are not sent, or would you feel more comfortable sending her to more 'known' countries? Just a thought, not meant to raise hackles.

I would feel more comfortable finding a "safer" avenue.  There are great dogs in everyone's home country and a lot of times their are great dogs in the country for limited breedings.  I think I would go to the sperm bank before I sent my female to an unstable setting.

I definitely won't be sending my dog to the UK any time soon.

You are going to find the shipping expensive and the import-export requirements onerous.  You would need to plan ahead carefully, or send the bitch before she is actually in heat, is my guess.  I ship from Alaska to the contiguous states, often 10,000 mile round trips for my poor girls...I don't even have a male currently, though I am looking...and it's still pretty expensive and if the flights are all crowded, I might miss getting my dog out to be bred.  I have missed a breeding twice due to being unable to coordinate everything--flights, brucelosis test, stud dog arrangements-- in time to get my females out for breeding.  This was during a holiday.

Perhaps you can get shipped semen?  That would be cheaper and easier for you to do, compared to sending a bitch back and forth to another country.

Good luck!

Veronica
