First of all I would like to make few points

1) I have 10 weeks pup

2) Feeding him 4 times a day at a interval of 5 hours roughly.

a) semi-raw (half boiled) minced Goat/Lamb meat  no bones( Human Grade)

b) Curd  200 gms

c) Royal Canine Junior 32

The above three are NOT given together but one type of meal at one time.

I want to ask, is feeding this combination could cause a problem? The weather here is very hot and humid. He stays a lot of time in an Air conditioned crate indoors.

The reason I'm asking is that initially his stool was fromed but sometimes he is doing loose stool now.

He is current vaccinated fully and due for a vaccination at 11 weeks and then a booster.

Please help. I hate to see him doing lose stool

tell me if I'm doing something wrong

thx

You might try eliminating one thing for a few days and see if that is the culprit.

I am not a pro but will try to help.

I think you should drop a feeding, to much food can cause loose stool.

The meat is OK but you need bone with meat ( NOT cooked) Bone is what makes the stool firm and to much can cause impacting. You can get bonemeal at a healthfood store, only use human grade not bonemeal for gardens! Also www.solidgold.com sells it online.

Curd is from cows milk I think??? Some dogs cannot digest it and it can cause loose stool, goat milk products would be better.

I have not tried Royal Canin but have read posts here that it has caused loose stool in some dogs too.

I would suggest doing somemore reading up on Natural and RAW feeding . For now maybe just use a good quality dog food. There are a couple sites online I would recommend. www.leerburg.com/diet2.htm  (I hope that is right) also Lew Olson is an valuable resource at www.B-Naturals.com  . Leerburgs site has a few books that are good. One is simple to understand and read Natural Nutrition for Dogs and Cats by Schultze, won't break the bank either buying it (reasonable).

sometimes if you feed too much it will come out loose too.  What was his diet when it was solid?

by Larrydee on 16 July 2007 - 16:07

The fist thing I would do is eliminate the kibble Royal Canine.  When I took my pup home at 8 weeks he had loose stools also.  Thru a process of elimination I found it to be the kibble my breeder recommended.

Good luck

actually the curd made his stool solid . I fed home ONLY curd for one day and it became solid.

1) Reasone for Variety  -> I want him to have as much important nutrients as possible .

2) Gave him a complete Goat Leg with flesh ( RAW)  caused him to pass gas and have tough time passing stool . Like became constipated almost. So stopped that

3) Giving him Semi Raw Minced Chicken meat and sometimes Mutton( Lamb meat) Boiled for about 10 minutes on stove with Apples mixed in it  ( Stew form) ( for roughage)

4) Will stop Royal Canin. I suspect that may be causing problems. As it is, even he doesn't like it too much.

5) Before I brought him he was on HappyDog. Unfortunately I don;t have access to HappyDog food.

thx for all inputs

If you are worried about your dog getting all the proper nutrients I would suggest a supplement  Canine Complete.  This will take that worry away.

www.thewholisticpet.com   You can order right from the site.   Sprinkle it right on his food will eat it right up.

If you want to up-grade his food take a  look at Orijen   www.championpetfoods.com

Good luck

Variety in a dogs diet is a good thing. But so is moderation. Maybe giving the whole goat leg he ate to much and caused the gas, not sure why the constipation though. Usually just raw meat w/o raw bone will cause loose stool. What exactly is curd anyway? Like cottage cheese or sour milk? I could google it I guess.

Larrydee I got my bag of Orijen. The dogs seem to like it OK but I was hoping for a bigger Hoorah!! But then thry have been on RAW for awhile so that might be why... it smells good.

Gunner was the same way when I first gave him Orijen. But I did notice he ate it all down.    But being like you feeding a mostly raw diet that is what I expected. So I feed Orijen in a pinch or when we go on a day trip.

I have heard from a lot of people variety is the spice of life in a dog's diet  Don't know if I agree.  Tried Buffalo meat when I mixed it with his regular natural ground beef it was fine but when I gave him 100% Buffalo meat he got the runs.  I was going to try Elk meat and Venison but after the Buffalo meat experiment I think I will hold off.

Larry sometimes when you ad a new meat source you have to go slower I guess on some dogs. My dogs main meat is ground chicken (bones and all) and elk/deer trim. Sometimes I will ad some hamburger if I have some left in a package. I have actually been guilty of making barbeque hamburgers and hotdogs for their birthdays followed by carrot cake with cream cheese frosting!!  But by variety I mean, somedays they get ground veggie assortment, somedays canned green beans or maybe a little plain yogurt or cottage cheese. Then a couple days a week a raw egg, a few days a week canned fish. Maybe someone doesn't eat their whole wheat toast so each get a bite.... just little bits of this and that. I too am going to just use the Orijen for those times when its just plain easier. But I just had to give it a try!

BTW buffalo and deer and elk are a little richer than burger, mine are just use to the der and elk. They have eaten it their whole lives so if I don't have any chicken I can just use it but ad bonemeal. Game meat is suppose to be higher in Omega's too.
