Ethics of updating dogs not yours - Page 1

This may have been adressed but as a person gets older.....    The memory is the second thing to go. 

Not all of our dogs ancestors have their titles and hip ratings posted.  As it is up to the individual who adds the dog to enter the information some do not seem to take time to fill it all in.  Would it be ethical for me to go in and add the titles and rating as they appears on our dogs pink papers?  They may not be completely current but at least wouldn't be blanks. 

I think it would be ethical. I think it would be unethical to change things for the worse, like some picture changing that was going on awhile back, or take titles off, or put up a bad hip rating. But adding info that is truthful is just helpful. JMO.

I don't see why not, as long as they are on the pink papers you know the titles have been earned at one point by the dog.  If they have since earned higher titles at least it will show the dog has accomplished something.

Yea, I've got that here too.  Some of my dog's ancestors info from Germany is not current either.

animules:  YR here, I did several of mine, back a week or two ago, as they were grossly behind and it isnt fair for us that have our certified german pedigrees not to be able to show the titles and backgrounds...as they are what we are very proud of,

On one of mine, it still doesnt pull it up correctly and Ive updated it two times, so just watch it....if its on my web page it comes up correctly, but if I do a search it doesnt bring up the current one that I updated    I have one male that I wish the owner of his dad would update because everyone I tell  that his sire was 20000 WSDA Champion , asks me why it isnt on the database....I hvent got a cllue, and Im not updating it...I have the front cover of the Schutzund issue with his pic on it, so I framed it and thats my proof....sad that the owners are not interested or maybe they dont know u can now update;;;

Thanks YR. It looks like the updates I did came up fine.  I'll watch them though.

go back in an hour or two and pull thru the search google and see if they come up corrected . Then do Bear Jerome and see if it shows the corrected on Lava ....thats the one that wont stay corrected is Lava    she has titles and I put them on and it must be pulling another pedigee in an archive....I just dont have a pic of her or Kanto...and have to pay for them if I want one...Maybe someone out there has a pic of Lava v Korbelbach and Kanto v Monteforthalle they can dig up and post...    would be wonderful........

One whole side of my girl's pedigree was not posted in the database, I added as many generations back as I had on her certified pedigree, including whatever titles, hip rating, etc. were available......if I find pictures I will add them....I'm not adding anything detrimental, & I'm verifying every thing as well as I can......they were mostly American showlines.(dare I say it)...hope that's OK....jo
