many of koehler's methods work very well. sita WAS dog agressive, i "strung her up" about twice when she went after other dogs, and followed with continued obedience and distractions.................she is cured!

If the dogs afraid of you or anything else stringing it up isn't going to make that fear go away.

Stringing up a dog, sounds awfully cruel. Mabe its because I'm not, understanding what it consist of. I have this book, i bought it a garage sale, in was published in 1980 and written by jo and paul loeb. Its called supertraining your dog. It's amazing It tells you so many diffrent ways how to abuse your dog and then it has a whole other section on how to abuse your cat. Of course they dont think bearing your cats head for 30 seconds in the garden, to keep it out, is abuse either.by luvdemdogs on 03 May 2009 - 01:05

How long have you been training dogs?

IMO, it's a severe correction and really needs to be done by an experienced handler. It's not over after the correction. You also need to know how to handle the dog immediately after stringing him up. That is very important as well.
I agree with ronpace's original post.
JMO,

By the way, this is how Cesar Milan handles many dogs on his show. The show is edited so you don't see how long he strings the dog up for. But watch how gassed out the dog is after the correction; as the dog lays on the ground and he is petting the dog.
