I had a super time at the show this weekend. It was a well run show. The Judge was tough but fair and the weather was awesome! I was especially pleased to see some of our finest youth handlers in action. Mackenzie Blank, Tessa Martinez and Riley Smith all worked their butts off and did a super job! I was very impressed with Tessa's handling in the 12-18month females. She won with a rather "frisky" young female in a sizeable class of some very good dogs. She also did a beautiful job presenting VA1 Bella vom Mittelwest in the Veteran Females. Riley Smith handled several dogs in various classes including her first Working Dog... Way to go! Mackenzie did a great job presenting a Veteran Male in a class occupied by some of sports more "active" males shall we say. :)
The judge was very impressed by all 3 girls and gave them each some special recognition. I think its very important that we really praise ALL the youth handlers as they are the future of our breed and need all the praise and encouragement that they can get. We lose a lot of youngsters to other activities as they grow and the time to really build their love of dogs and showing is now. Please take the time at shows to let them know how glad you are to see them there and that you think they are doing a super job.
