A friend asked if I knew who the dog was in the photo that has always been used on the PDB. I remember a thread with someone asking years ago. I also vaguely recall him being either a dog Oli owned, or at the least Oli knew who the dog was. Someone shared the pedigree but again, it was years ago and I can no longer recall. Thanks!

Seriously? It looks more like this dog, Quino vom Laabermoos:http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=505849-quino-vom-laabermoos
I copied the image address from the PDB photo, and am posting the photo below:
See? Same picture, same dog...
How'd I find this out? Pure luck - I was checking out a pedigree for a dog one day, and said, 'wait, that dog back here in the x generation looks like Oli's poster dog! Wow! I'm going to save that picture to my files!'

The image has Janos von der Noriswand if you check. This is interesting as the image states something different check it out.
Fantom will know for sure!

Working dog.Eu has same picture for Quino. But here is a correction. Quino's registeration number is SZ 2169468. The one that was listed on PDB 2169467 belongs to his brother Quentin. I just corrected it. So the question might be, is this the correct picture of Quino. I don't know. Here is another picture of Quino taken on 31.05.2008 from http://www.ahornquelle.de/Deckrude/body_deckrude.html
Here is pictture of Janos von der Noriswand that SV has on its website. Notice that the mask is different, ( Quino's comes up to his eyes, but Janos below does not. So Heritage I do not think it is Janos, but more likely Quino
Janos

OMG, I sure opened a can of worms, didn't I?
Good thing this is getting fixed! Who would have suspected?
Personally, I like Quino's structure more than Jano's. Janos back is more curved, shoulder a bit too upright, and the dome of his head is too apple-y.
Edit: yes, they are obviously two quite different dogs. See my critique above.
GSDHeritage, where did you find the info that says the PDB picture was of Janos? I don't see that anywhere.

Fantom, you would know. I find that different times of the year the mask can darken.
