Anyone know of a good site to search for ear tattooes? Friend adopted a long coat GSD in the U.S. 6 years ago, no papers, no microchip, but an ear tattoo of OBM1TH7.
thanks in advance, Ken

I used to find these for people all the time, but since most people have changed to Microchips, there is no longer a need.
I did check my WinSIS-X GSD database and did not find anything starting with OB. The problem is that the dog is a longhair and they have only been accepted for a few years and I do not have many in my database.
I do not know if USCA has kept the same format that they used to have, but if they did , although this has a length of 7, the third digit should be a number. The last 2 would indicate that it was the 3rd dog in the "H: litter.
So you still might contact USCA, and maybe AKC. I used to have phone numbers for organizations that would check ear tattoos but I'm sure that they are out of date now. Sorry that I could not be more helpful.

Can confirm the dog likely did not start life over in the UK, as that is not one of our National Dog Tattoo Register number/letter combinations.
One problem with tracking odd tattoos is that sometimes they are just the work of one breeder / Kennel; they don't relate to any Register anywhere, so one either recognises the sequence or you do not and therefore cannot know its origin. (On the plus side, that is a longer & more complex one than often used by even prolific breeders).
