We simply cannot proceed without this :( I am only one person and cannot do it all by myself.  Can anyone help out here?

How would references be checked? I might be able to do this portion :)

I think vet references  for fosters and transporterts would be good. That could be done via telephone. Steph would know more about this. Steph?

Sorry but when I placed dogs, vet references were NOT accurate. I went to the assessors office in the state of the person and verified if they owned their home, had liens, were renters etc. ive placed dogs into homes with good vet references only to find that they never bothered to take the dog to the vet. Many vets now wont give out this information which I discovered when I filed a complaint on a vet and needed to get the records from another vet that treated the animal. Advising whether someone vaccinates, imo, is not accurate. I would be happy to do this for you but really you need several people positioned throughout the states to make it accurate.

There is a transport group on Yahoo I can look up that helped. I would also suggest getting other rescues involved in doing home checks where you will be placing the dog. I offered a gas fee to do it and it was always appreciated. Rescues were more willing to help out esp if you needed them again.

I would strongly recommend that the dogs you consider taking in have been evaluated for aggression. Ive had more than my share of dogs I could not place into homes for fear the dog would bite someone and no one wants to be sued.

I will add that foster people are hard to find. I wouldnt worry so much about them as finding a good home for the dog. It truly is a thankless job and most foster people dont stay at it for long. I was actually denied to be a foster person, before I started my own rescue because my own dogs did not follow the "yearly vaccine " recommendation. My foster people were awesome and I treated them well so they wouldnt go elsewhere. Just an fyi

Thanks, Barb :) When I find a place for a dog, it is with a rescue I personally know that I have worked with, previously. I never adopted a dog out on my own as I have always acted as go
between between shelter and rescue.

I guess I would be turned down, as well, as I never give my dogs yearly vaccines- I titer and have found their titers to be good for their whole lives, thus far.
