Hi everyone,

i'm new to the breed and i just want to learn as much as i can from everyone. I have seen several advertisements for doberman puppies and people usually say that the puppies are from european lines or american lines. Is there a big difference between the european lines and the american lines? If there is, how does it affect the breed as a whole? Also, is there a particular line that is better for show (european or american) and a better one for working or are they the same? sorry for all the questions but i'm just trying to learn, so any info would be great

Hello,

Yes, there is a major difference. In looks, weight, temperment, and just about everything else. Most of our American dogsare bred for show though we do have some good working dogs they are far and in between. If you want a dog to show in AKC dog shows you should buy and American bred dog. If you want a good working dog and what a Dobermann reeally should be then get a Euro Dog. I have included links to what I consider the best American show Doberman in a long time and I am including a link to a Euro Sitewhere you cansee the difference and the best Dobermanns in the world today.

Here is to me the best American Doberman, http://web.mac.com/dabneydobes/Dabney_Dobermans/Champion_Dabneys_Phenomenon.html

Here is the site to the Euro Dobermanns: http://www.dobermann-review.com/

There are so many great dogs at this site it is hard to say which one is best but some names are Baron Nike Renewal, CAYA Jared, Fedor Del Nasi, Zordan del Citone anyways you see when you get there.
