I have a question at what age is the best time for determining how a puppy will look like when they are adults. thanks Jess

i think its between 6 to 7 week

It really depends on the type of coat they have. Sables change a lot.

look at the parents - black/tans always lighten up as they get older, and can completely change from puppy to adult (in color/markings). Usually the tan extends up the legs, shoulders, hips, around neck, face, chest, and black recedes. Depends on color of parents though - and bicolor doesn't change or often gets more black as they get older. Sables are born the color they will end up - but within days they get lighter and lighter, then with adult coat get darker and darker again, and change back/forth as they shed and get new coats each season. m

Are you talking about coat color in adulthood or conformation ? Colors keep changing for a long time depending on parents/genes. Structure is evident at 5 weeks with a trained eye - and some say 8 and not again until 16 weeks. My very short bodied square puppy at 8 weeks is quite LONG in the loin now - never would have guessed it - even looking at her parents -- that's what makes it interesting. If you want to know what you'll end up with, you need to get a dog over 14 months old !! Then you know for sure where you're headed - color, size, structure, etc.

I would have to agree on conformation at about 12 to 14 months you can tell for sure what you got, some experts say 8 weeks but I do not agree, may be 50/50 but not for sure, if you want to trust them you better be careful.

I look at structure at 5-6 weeks, they will change but at adulthood seem to come back to what you saw at 5-6 weeks IMO.
