I am interested to learn more about this breed and was wondering who on the board owns one or has ever met one. What is the most informative website to learn about working beaucerons? Who are the best breeders of working beaucerons? How well do they do at police work and dog sport?
Thanks
Kelly

I have seen beaucerons working, some of them were titled, one had even SVV 3 which is a difficult trial. The ones I have seen were really good trackers, they had very good obedience but due to their body structure they were not as fast as GSDs or malis /not saying they are slow just stating that a dog weighing 45 - 50 kilos is not that fast as 30-35 one/,protection work was more or less based on defence drive.

I forgot to add, they didn´t have calm bite,a lot of rebiting and I was told that it is an important trait for them in their primal job - herding cattle or other animals. They just nip the cow and move away or they would get kicked.

BoCRon shared some great information here earlier about Beaucerons. What a cool looking dog. I've only seen a few but would love to see more.

Ive seen this breed before, never have owned one but have heard very good things about them they were on one of the James Bond movies, seems like Moonraker but i forgot, I hear the AKC has added them as a new breed, there is a breeder in Woodlake,CA. but not sure if her dogs are more of a showline or working line.

Ok...I've owned 2 Beaucerons....I started schutzhund with a Beauc...she was retired to a pet home because she was noise sensitive...would clear a six foot kennel wall when fire crackers went off. My first Beauceron was ring trained to FR3...I put all the foundation work on this bitch! They can work....they are being split like the GS...show...work:-( I love the breed!

Marmaduke's nemesis was a Beauceron. He was the leader of the Pedigrees and sounded a lot like Keiffer Sutherland.

I had a Beauce many years ago. Interesting dog. Had some 'quirks' which I attributed to the fact that I was his 4th or 5th home, but after talking to a number of breeders here in the US I was told a lot of his 'quirks' were actually breed traits. You can find some that can work, but I think a lot of them are being bred more for show, without much emphasis on the working side of things.

I have seen/known several - they have not been "good for" protection work - nerve issues, sensitive, not drivey enough - defensive, chewy on the sleeve (if they bit at all). Handsome dogs, impressive looking - I have known a couple who are SAR dogs - for me, not drivey or agile enough for that either. I have seen a couple videos of Beuceron doing French Ring, that dog looked ok to me - ???? where it came from.
There is one Beuceron who has HGH title so for me that is impressive enough to look twice at -
