This morning as I let the pack out of the bedroom I realized my red sable was not in the lead as is her norm-instead she was setting on the bed, she was unable/reluctant to get up on her hindquarters when I called-as she usually bouces on and off the bed repeatedly when the alarmclock goes off, my immediate fear was either a badley pulled muscle(s) or spinal injury.  Although unsteady, she did stand and walk when I placed her on the floor-as soon as I could, I rush her into the University, where they were not able to determine where or what the issue was-she screamed everytime the vet touched her in anticipation of being hurt-she has already had two emergency surgeries this year-so it's not her favorite place.  She was sent home with Tramadol and orders for six weeks of crate rest.

While updating my new vet I remembered that both she and another of the pack had comsumed something that caused great thrist throughout the evening-fearing toxic substance my vet had me bring both in.  He re-examed the red sable-she was not so verbal with him, so actually indictated discomfort in her hind end and displayed difficultly raising from a sitting position-the other dog was behaving normally-he gave both a combination shot of antibiotics/B12 and orders for a follow up on Monday.

Has anyone had similar experiences?

I am not saying at all your dog has this but you asked about similar symptoms, I  noticed with pancreatitis, and/or tumor it was similar sounding... dog does not want to get up. (Sudden urination as well.)

I do not know what the dogs may have consumed, as both disappeared while we were walking around the acreage yesterday afternoon-my land is mostly wooded so there's a lot of possiblities-I did walk around this morning trying to find an disturbed area that might have given a clue, but with deer, squirrels and birds . . . . .

Meanwhile the black sable showed more of the same symptoms earlier this afternoon but recently when taking both out on a potty break, both show greater mobility-even inviting me to a game of keep away-so I am leaning toward toxic substances, so here's to continuing improvement!!
