I find them pet friendly for the ease of cleaning , flea and tick controll( less hiding places for the critters) relatively cool in hot weather and elimination of the high cost of carpet or sheet goods! Although sheet goods are nice !

Thanks Raymond for the above comments, I just wanted others to read the article to have an idea about the benefits of concrete floors, but as a matter of fact I remember reading negative thoughts about concrete floors in previous threads, we may even see some negative findings about them in this thread by some.

I have them and I am very pleased with them, they are as you say pet friendly,I love them because they are sterile once sealed, and very hard wearing.

the only drawback to concrete floors and pets lies in the ability of concrete to rub off fur on certain points of the dogs body causing callouses ! That can be prevented by making sure the pet has a cushioned place to lay down or sleep!

All my dogs sleep in insulated boxes, with stable rubber mats to lay on, 18 inches off the ground, only the runs are concrete here, when we get frost its bad, also if the concrete isnt layed properly it blows the top of it,that alone causes problems with dogs feet in winter.

I don't own but rent. I live on a farm so I didn't want to do anything permanently; one, possibly having to destroy and removing everything when I left or leaving it as a freebie to whoever moved in after me. The morning dew is so wet in the mornings it is like it just rained. And the wind howling across the fields is like a small hurricane.
I wanted something to protect them, keep them off the ground and if weather got bad some protection. I built a platform 16" off the ground, 6X6 corner posts, framed out with 2X8s. on top plywood but I painted a waterproof membrane, black, so during the winter it keeps the warmth. During the sommer I have the winds across the fields and on days above 95 I turn the industrial fan on. Also, during the warm months they have the puppy pool, hoses and sprinklers.
The only thing I don't like about not having the concrete is how fast their nails grow.

I have had Concrete Floors for my Dogs of all breeds for 60 years, Never a problem and it will not be changed now for me, The Kennels the Dogs sleep in have nothing inside just a bare wood floor.
Double insulated floors off the ground , They keep as well and are as fit as any Dog i have seen
