I own a 100% DDR bloodline/descent dog. 

East Germany no longer exists but the dogs they developed in their "People's Paradise" way were remarkable.  I am very happy to have a 100% descendant of these dogs.  I did not give the breeder a DDR knowledge test.  I looked up the pedigree and health certifications and chose a litter that I wanted and Pharaoh is the result.

One of the best things that they did was setup a mandatory system that created total transparency.  All records were open on hips and very importantly, DDR Wertmessziffer Rating System.  Please read up on this system-I wish it existed today.  Of course there was corruption and cheating just like anything else that is run by human beings.

 I still want to see a working video of these so called "great" DDR dogs.  I always find it funny how no one, even with a titled DDR GSD like Aron, Puck, or other well known dogs can get a video....which really isn't hard to do if you work your dogs, other people will be involved and around.  The only one I've seen is Alk vom Osterburg Quell,  he's the grand sire to my female.  Alk is an awesome dog.  The only other videos I've seen of DDR dogs are from goble, playing fetch, and others just showing a goofy dog, none showing protection or real working videos.  Don't get me wrong, I love the looks of DDR dogs and at one time wanted a pure DDR,  but I'll stick with my Czech male, and Czech/DDR/West female.  So many east German dogs are claimed high drive, but the only ones I've seen in person were low to medium,.  Very pretty dogs though.....I just want to see working videos
