Got an e-mail from PetPac, the group that fights against BSLs & is trying to pass a bill of rights for pet owners that would protect people from some of the legislative BS that's being promoted by peta & the animal rights groups. They are looking for dog owners to post pictures to their web site & also stories about how your dogs enrich your lives for Thursday, August 26, 2010, which they are declaring National Dog Day. And they have a Heroic GSD as their Dog Day Poster Dog, which I think is pretty cool!

Thursday August 26 is National Dog Day, a day for us to celebrate those loyal companions that are so important in our lives. PetPAC's hope is that this date will help focus public awareness of the important, vital contributions these majestic animals make to our lives everyday.
For many in our society our dogs are our heroes. They give us unconditional loyalty and love, they keep us safe as partners for our law enforcement officers and they make the world accessible for those who are blind or suffer from a disability.
To commemorate this day and honor our pets we are asking PetPAC members to take a few minutes and send us a picture and a short story about your dog so that we can showcase them on our website and share it with others.
There is no doubt that as Americans we love our pets and our freedom; your continued support of PetPAC helps us to defend them both.
Sincerely,
Bill Hemby

I stand corrected. That PetPAC declared this day was my assumption, & you know what happens when you assume.....my apologies, but I still think it is a wonderful way to celebrate the day. In my own defense, my computer is running so slowly, I did not research my statements prior to posting due to the length of time that would have been required. Again, my apologies. jackie harris
