I have a new girlfriend who has a 4 year old boy. My 2 year old male GSD has never been around kids. What is the best way to introduce them so there are no problems. He is very well trained but like I said he has never been around young kids

I would do it the same way you would if you were bringing home a baby.  Bring some of his dirty clothes to your house and maybe some toys so that your GSD gets used to the smell and some of his things, then I would first introduce him on leash and then just take it slowly from there.

Honestly, when my first child was born I had a 5 year old very protective and very dominant male GSD and from the moment we walked in the door the sun rose and set on my daughter in the eyes of my GSD.

I would just take it slowly and the boy is old enough for you to ask the mother to tell him that he shouldnt run round the dog or try to play with him cause he  isnt use to children he may think the child is being aggresive in some way.

Am sure it will all go great once the boy knows the rights and wrongs and the dog will proberly see the child as a "child" and they more than likely will bond great. The dog is only two and the boy is four. No doubt they will be great for each others company.
