I was wondering if anyone has ever used this test and if so were the results accurate? I have a friend who had this test done on her dog at 31 days and it was negative but she really felt she was pregnant as she was showing some early symptoms. They do not do ultrsounds at her vet and was told this test is very accurate but I have found mixed reviews. I appreciate any comments.

I have not used them but have knowledge of them being used. The several tests that I know of have been accurate but, if in doubt, why not find a vet who does have an ultrasound and go there. Could she be having a phantom pregnancy?
Maybe you could find a person who does mobile scanning and see if they are in your area if none of your local vets do pregnancy scans.
Best wishes

It is not uncommon to get a false negative on the test. ... meaning the test may come back that your bitch is not pregnant when in fact she is. The only time I ever used the test ( 1st and last ) was around 32 days. The results were negative .... we whelped a nice litter of 9 puppies a month later!! The test can be given as soon as 28 days if you know your progesterone level the day of the 1st mating.. I waited 4 more hoping it would be more accurate. I would not again waste time or money on this test.

We wait until day 38 or so. Have not had a false reading yet....

We use them at work have never had a false negative yet. Never use them before 32 days. if the test is negitive then have the Dr. palpate the dog, he should be able to feel if she is pregnant.

Is serum or blood used with this test? I found an at home kit, it is $100 for 5 tests and wanted to know if I need to draw blood and take to vet to spin it down or just use drawn blood. Also, It says 28 days on the box but I read everyone has better results after 35 days, cant you usually tell around that time if your dog is expecting anyway?

you have to use serum with the witness test
