Chronic ear infections in a breed like the GSD [erect ears that should get plenty of air flow] are probably the result of some variety of allergy.

It could be pollen [do you see a reduction in ear infections during the dormant pollen months?]

Or it could be what you're feeding.  If you're feeding a food heavy with grains, that's usually the first thing to change, in an effort to correct ear infections.

Keep up with those restitution payments bra!  They be revoking your parole.  A little yeast smell never hurt nobody.

I'd start by changing the food, then.

SL,

Since your vets have found nothing physically wrong with the dogs upon multiple examinations, I'd try switching foods.  If it still doesn't clear up after a few months on a grain-free food, I'd suggest seeing a Vet that specializes in allergies.

Some good, grain-free foods are:

Orijen
Innova EVO
Taste of the Wild
Solid Gold Barking at the Moon
Instinct
Wellness CORE

Orijen is definitely my top-pick grain-free food, now that Innova has been bought out by another company.

Those foods are a tad pricey, but in the long run, its cheaper than multiple vet trips a year, if it fixes the problem.
