I have not vac'd my dogs for Lyme in about 5 years. I did the initial shot on my now 2 year old,. They have never come up positive for Lyme, but do come up positive for equii erhlichia (anaplasmosis)...No sense in getting the shot since it only supposedly covers lyme and not the other..
We hike, are surrounded by woods. I dont use anything on the dogs, yes we have a few ticks but the ones that transmit the tick disease we'll never find anyhow, smaller than a pinhead:(
I think it's one's personal preference, myself, I don't want to overload my dogs with anything more than I aboslutely have to.

Big business says put frontline/poison on your pet.
Are you willing to gamble with your family?
I believe that the following article lists a few manufacturers because I feel that I at least owe you that in case you are going to tell someone who doesnt know to use another form of a deadly poison.

Someone mentioned antibiotics like that was a better option.
