I  hate, to the point of having an out and out phobia about ....
Slimey training balls!!!! (I qualified it because 'slimey balls' and this crowd just wouldn't work well together. )

I mean a phobia to the point that if I see a white dribble of spit/slime crawling down the rope from the ball my skin crawls and I about climb furniture to get away from it and the dog carrying it.

While it was never a problem with my litle girl (she always kept her training balls nice and neat) my male is a slimmer.  Not as bad as some I've known but ... he slims a ball up pretty darn good.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to take up wearing gloves and or drinking copious amounts of alcohol to deal with this phobia.  Some people fear running into snakes while out laying a track ... me I'm wigged out by my dog doing a perfect retrieve to me with a slime ridden ball in his mouth.

How would you react on the trial field when the perfect retrieve is accompanied with an exorbantant amout of slime! Would you faint on the field or run screaming to your car with the dog in hot persuit?would the trial judge simply scratch his head and say "go figure " . that is a serious delimmna! I always fear my dog thinking ok now I am gonna get even with that bastard!

Luckily if I've taught the retrieve right on the trial field the slime will be trapped to the bar of the dumbbell and I only have to touch the ends.

If there is slime on the ends, then probably I have bigger problems with the retrieve other than running off the field screaming about slime!

I would remove his glands! ;)

But ... he's so proud of his slime.  In fact the slimmier he gets the ball and rope the more he seems to want to rub them on my pants or drop the ball in my lap

"Look what I did to the ball Mom!"

"AAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!"

"Gee Mom, how did you get all the way up on that ceiling fan?"

Apparently he loves you very much & wants to make sure you smell just like him, hence the desire to slime you....watch he doesn't decide to 'mark' you next....! LOL, I hate slime, too. My Kali & her daughter Ansgar are as fastidious as cats, neat & clean all the time. They give little, polite, dry kisses, & their toys & training tugs & balls are always nice & neat. But her other daughter Ani, whom we call Lil' Bit, has an 18 inch long tongue, which she keeps fully loaded with the slimiest slime, & she's always ready to use it! And of course, there's Beckett, King of Slime! Ugh! Good thing I love them.......slimey dogs! jackie harris

I would substitute a  clean BALL IN HIS MOUTH IMMEDIATELY....

Leave it or Aus or  drop it  would  be the next command....and replace with a clean ball....cheaper by the dozen anyway

I can't handle slimey tennis balls - they are just squishy and gross.  We have a bucket of old tennis balls and taught Georgia to drop it in the bucket when she brings it back, then I just throw a new one.  She only does this with the tennis balls, and it lets the kids play too since I don't have to worry about them sticking their hands in Georgia's mouth to try to get the ball.

If we're training (and not just playing) I usually use a ball or tug on a rope.
