I thought about putting OT on this thread, but I do think it's also dog related. These mosquitoes are active during the day so there's a greater danger of us and our dogs getting sick from any of the diseases they spread. We can't cross a border with fruits, vegetables or any living creatures, but we're not the ones bringing these in and the government has done little to stem the influx, they just keep coming. Invasive insect species have become epidemic in the last decade and the usual solution? Bring another foreign species (natural predator species, such as wasps) to battle them. We're killing native fauna and the foreign species seem to thrive in their new playground.
Just to list a few others in this area: Asian Lady bugs, Asian gypsy moths, Asian stink bugs
We're playing a very dangerous game and it's really gotten out of control.
Anyway, here's the local news article:

The Tiger Mosquito has been here for some time now.
Yes your right...... dangerous to try to medal with nature.
We have Asian Carp in our river and soon they will make it past barriers into Lake Michigan.

We have had the Tiger mosquito here in Louisiana for a long time now.. They are really big and bite harder than the normal mosquito. Their legs are rather eye catching, as they have blk and brwn stripes. Their bodies also are blk and brwn...

Speaking of mosquitoes, Dengue fever is back in Key West since the last outbreak in 1934. Just a matter of time before it travels up the rest of FL & the Gulf Coast. I've heard that if you have it once and then contract the other strain, like what is found in Texas, it can be serious.

Here's something else that most likely came in from China. The Ministry of the Environment is trying very hard to control it in the Toronto and York Region area:
