The dog's owner is more than happy to take a donation to your favorite dog charity if you want to pay him something. No one wants a free dog. Fine. Ever hear of a vengeful ex-husband to be? If he needs to place this dog, he doesn't want his wife to get half the price. What is half of nothing? But he does want the dog to go to a good home. He had to move into an apartment and someone is keeping him until he can be placed. (See ad today "Adopt Titled Showline". And - NO - this is NOT MY DOG!)

One wonders if that ad couldn't potentially come back to bite him in the ass.

I remember a story where the dog had been sick and the vengeful Husband took the dog and had him PTS, saying tht his wife was too upset to take him in.
The wife didn't find out for a week or more and was devistated.

There was a proposed bill in Washington State to extend coverage to pets under restraining orders.
I don't know if it ever passed or not.

That is exactly the kind of thing I was afraid of.
I had to pay $5,000.00 to keep Shadow. I have heard of women who establish a co-ownership with someone they trusted to protect the dog. It is best to pick someone trustworthy.

Does anyone remember the name of the breeder in [i think] Alaska who will refund the full purchase price of the dog if it gets a SchIII or other working title?
I've always been temped to go to them. Not because of the refund, but because they OBVIOUSLY care more about improving the breed, than money.

Aaron,
Thanks for posting that link.
What a great idea... Food for thought for some of the breeders. That makes a bold statement about them
love it!
