If a bitch is bred before being imported, and pups are born here in US, how is it possible that the pups can get pink papers.   Just read about this in an old post and no one answered that question....I always thought if pups were born here, they were not considered imported, even though bitch was bred before being imported...

The puppies from litters bred in Germany, born in the US, will be registered with the AKC and have AKC papers. There are other 'registration' or 'addition' papers to the AKC pedigree that are pink, but the AKC registration is the official record.

We used to get pink papers through the UScA office which were actually issued by the SV. They were called "Performance Breeding Addition" which meant that they were only valid in connection with the AKC papers. A few years ago, the SV stopped issuing them because it was actually a violation of FCI rules which stated that there is only one set of registration papers for a purebred dog, issued by the organization (or kennel club) of the country the dog was born in. For the U.S., it means AKC. UKC and other registries are not members of the FCI.
The last pink papers I received for my litters were for my M-guys, born in November of 2006.
