How long would you wait after whelping to alow your female to go for a swim...? I know if she's still nursing to make sure she is clean and dry before going back in with the pups. But I'm worried about water transfering bactieria in to her uterus if its too soon.
Thanks,

Ocean-NO! Sharks and Blood!!!
Pool and Chlorine-Maybe. Even a kiddie pool witha bit of bleach to kill bacteria.
Big Lake-Maybe and that's iffy.
Pond-Probably not without a roll of Saran wrap and Duct tape.

this deserves a real answer... but i can't tell you officially.....
i would think it should really be fine after a week or so max, but it depends on your dog and if she had any complications etc. bodies have a way of closing off unnatural bacterial acces route as soon as possible. Ask an experienced and trusted vet to be more certain ....

Hmmm, I think momma would have to wait to swim until her pups were weaned..... too much potential to affect pups.....

Ask yourself how old the pups would be before the bitch would leave them alone long enough to go swimming.
The bitch would be long since healed before she would leave the pups to go anywhere.
Never make a bitch with pups do anything she wouldn't do on her own like go for a swim.
She'll let you know.
