As some of you may recall, I am now the owner of a boarding and grooming kennel in Ontario. It's keeping me really busy, so I haven't had much time for posting here anymore. Anyway, just popped in to post this little tidbit....

Today, a couple brought in their Wiemaraner and a Rhodesian ridgeback cross for boarding, both of them in heat. They said the Wiemaraner had first started bleeding about 7 days ago, but she had stopped now, so she should be all right...  [head/desk, repeat]

Oh, yeah, both dogs are totally unsocialized, and were scared to death of me and my business partner when they first came in for boarding about a month ago.

No wonder the dog pounds are overflowing with unwanted dogs...

'Scuse me, have to go do evening rounds...

Congrats wondered why I havent seen you on lately.

LoL... started bleeding 7 days ago so she should be alright... Its lack of knowledge such as that why the shelters are over populated LoL.. I think animals should come with an owners manual. LoL.. Well best of luck.

Don't know about coming with an Owner's Manual...but...I think a prerequisite that every "NEW" dog owner must take a class on the basics of being a Dog Owner...might really help a lot...
In general people are pretty ignorant of what it takes to be a dog owner...I mean it seems that their brains go to mush when it comes to what a dog needs and what they'll do...
I'm not even talking about Basic Obedience here...I'm just talking about basic care and knowledge about a dog...
I think any knowledge that you get out there about the care of a dog is good...And I also think that this might be a good way for our Humane Societies to have a little more income for the well being of the dogs they have on hand...
