In trying to reply to an older post about an unidentified red brindle dog and number of theories were being thrown out into the open.  A number of folks said they never heard of a brindle Catahoula Cur.  I happen to have one.  the pedigree is stellar and there is no doubt that her markings would be described as brindle...

If I could figure out how to post a picture, I would!

I wish you could post a picture!  I rescued my Cat.  He does have brindling on his legs.   Multipurpose dog... shown here doing pointer imitation.

I had one marked exactly like that, Samba. His name is BlackJack (he lives in Canada now). Can't find the darn pictures right  now. Yours is a nice looking dog. And I had a blue merle I got a Bh on, a crazy old dog named Spiller. GREAT old dog, my kindred spirit. Sure did like to bite people!

I saw a picture of a nearly all black Cat who was a champion name Black Jack. I can't find it now,but he was a good looking dog.

When I tell people what my dog is... invariably... "a cata-what?"

"Dontchadovoodoo"  aka Voodoo.  Luvs his face...

I like Catahoula's.  I've been close to getting one at various times through the years.    Another breed that needs a job to be happy.

I had a Catahoula kennel for 15 years. Yes, they come in brindle  and many other colors and many eye colors. Eye color doesn't have to match, either.  They are certainly an assertive, high energy breed. Not for everyone, but I found them to be great dogs.

I had a cat a merle with 2 blue eyes & she had longer coat. Basically they are a cert hog/hunting/working mutt. They come in all coat colors & eye colors! Mine was a very intelligent dog & I didn't give her a "job" but I did walk her & take her everywhere as a pup  rodeos etc.. She became extreme protective even wanted to attack my father who I was still living with at home at the time, but then my  young neices could put a leash on and drag her all over. There was a handfull  ok people that she was with on a regular basis & those could do anything with her otherwise don't get close! But @ vet's they would take her back to do check ups with out me & she would be fine. So I realize how the breed/lines are strong & I gave her that job to protect me but in the end we had to put her down due to fear she would bite someone.

VM, this looks like one I almost got though a rescue.   I had just gotten my Abe (current avitar) so passed on the Catahoula.  He was a nice boy who went to a good home though.
