Hello
I was needing some advice on my German Shepherd.. we went out of town and we left him with a sitter.. when he got back he was barking at everyone and kinda skitish of new people..  He has never been like this before and had no problems with barking. We are friends with the sitter and we train together.. I just dont understand what would spark this behavior?
He has never been left alone and we were only gone 5 days..  he is 7 months old. Is there anything I can do to change this?

The obvious question I presume is to ask your friend/ sitter how your dog cope during the 5 days absence from you and your family.

Did your dog settled after afew a few hours with your sitter, or was there separation anxiety issues such as loss of appetite, not responding, and  was there another dog present (since you mentioned that your sitter trains with you together). Does your friend/ sitter share similar style of training as you?

Not particularly jumping into any conclusions, 5 days is a fairly short time and depending on your dog's temperament, he may just revert to his old self in a few days' time.

He said that the first night he was looking for me then the second day he was fine.. eating fine and did really well.. Yes they have another German Shepherd she is 7 but she stays outside.. I dont know if he was in the kennel next to her or not.. I will have to check.. Other then that he said he was great.. we do the same type of training.. I just dont understand what would spark that behavior.

if he was in a kennel and did not get out to play walks ect he could have been running the wire and barking all the time for attention hopefully he will go back to his self very soon good luck

Thats what happens when you leave a pup for five days.

You should be very involved in training and socializing at this age so just continue on with that.

You will not get back those five days.
