I have a beautiful male puppy about 9 weeks old. Father is a Vegas son. Mother's brother was VA1 in Germany. Both parents are SchH3, KKl1. It's one of our most promising breedings.

He's happy, healthy but mom bit his foot off in childbirth so he's handicapped. He doesn't know it. He runs and plays with his littermates without showing any signs of being handicapped. He has no medical issues.

We just couldn't bring ourselves to put him down. Every life exists for a reason. We're hoping there's a place for him in a family where he will be loved and cared for. If you feel thet you have a home for him. We would love to hear from you and your interest in him. Please let us know who you are and what your situation is. We're looking for the best home for him and his placement will be based on who we feel is the most qualified.

Please write us an e-mail telling us what you have in mind for him and your situation. He's free to the best home and I'll deliver him within 200 miles of Washington DC.

If you presumaby are unable to keep this little chap yourself,  I do hope you find him his ideal home and family very soon.  What came to my mind when reading this, was someone who might be interested or involved with PAT (Pets As Therapy) UK - probably called something different in the US.  He could be a very helpful and encouraging 'Ambassador' visiting children or young people in rehabilitation centres who have sadly lost limbs.   Have you considered contacting a similar Society and asking them if they might have the facilities to advertise your young lad to these potential Visiting Owners?

Kind Regards,
(Hope you keep us updated)

I'm not aware of a similar organization in the US. It's not that we are unable to keep him. We believe there's a better situation for him. We're just reaching out to see what's available. Thanks for the reply and we will keep you posted.

Therapy dogs International is an organzation that certifies pet therapy dogs.  Also Bright and Beautiful is another one I know of.

I hope you find a special home for your special boy.  If my circumstances were a bit more settled, I'd consider it.  Good luck placing him where he'll be happy and appreciated!

I certainly hope he finds the perfect home!  If I could I would take him in a minute.

Delta Society is another pet therapy group you may want to contact. I wish you the best in placing him in the ideal home.

I knew of a dog that had to have an amputation due to an accident. Did you know they can make a prosthesis?

They are pricey but he could walk and be trained just like any other dog. If he has the right personality for it dogs with disabilities make inspiring therapy dogs.

You're a good person!

There are similar dogs here in the US as Vixen described! And what a fantastic idea! Here are a few links I found

www.positivelyautism.com/gobuddygo/

Maybe you could contact the owners of the websites/dogs and find out how to place your little guy in with a training home for him where he could really make a world of difference in a handicapped child's life.
