My dog was having problem is passing motion ,he was straning again and again .As per my vet doctor my dog is suffering from an enlarged prostate because of which it is having problem is passing motion .Doc says that because of straning his rectum mussles has rupptured and the rectum has become loose and large. He suggests a surgery .But as my dog is very aggresive post opprative care would be very difficult so I consulted a second doc who says that prostate is normal but rectum problem is there .he does not suggest a surgery .I have tried giving my dog laxatives but that also did not help much.he passes motion normally for 4/5 days (not fully but quite normal)but after every 5/6 days he is facing same straning problem again .I have to take him to the vet and he takes out the bowel by inserting his finger or or doing enemas.what do you suggest what should be done ---surgery ,let it go this way or any medicines or cure available .if enemas can solve this problem I will prefer enemas every twa days than surgery .also suggest me some good laxatives .I have been giving him Dulcolax 2or 3 tabs a day .It was helpful for 3/4 days dog was passing loose /soft motion .please suggest

You sure have a lot of problems with your dogs.

I believe I'd keep my fingers out of the dogs ass hole if I were you.
What the hell you feeding the thing anyway?

Don't go feeding the dog laxitives...
What are you feeding now?

Poor dogs.

Try giving the dog pumpkin. It will act as a gentle, natural laxitive. It gives the stool bulk while keeping it soft. This makes it easier to pass.

And what ARE you feeding your dog? What sort of laxitives are you giving? (I recommend you stop them, as the bowels get dependent on them to 'pass a motion' as you say. In English, the equivalent is 'pass a bowel movement', 'pass stool, feces, poop' or any one of another less polite words.

Years ago I had an 8 year old GSD with exactly this problem, the vet called it an anal hernia I believe.  He was operated on and was fine afterwards and did not have a recurrence, though he actually only lived two more years after this.  We did not have any aggression problems with this dog, but if I remember correctly not much post-op care was required, I think he came home almost immediately after the op.  If its the same thing laxatives will not help.  Instead of being expelled the faeces collect in a kind of pouch that forms in the rectum, the fecal material becomes hard and the swelling increases as the feces build up, so it is important to resolve by surgery.

I do not think the prostrate was involved in this case, but the stretched rectum muscles sounds like the same thing.
