Kalibeck

Our 'special' girl, Lil' Bit, has a very bad habit. She & her sister have recently decided that 4am is a wonderful time to wake up, & they feel that everyone else in the household should join them, & they invite us all to come & play rather loudly. Since I don't get to bed until around 2am due to my 3-11:30 shift, & my 1 hour +  commute.....I find this new 4am wake up call a little annoying. Now Ansgar, Lil' Bit's sister, can be dissuaded with a firm, "NO! Bad!", & she will go back to her box, curl up & go back to sleep until 6 or 7am. That's fine with me.  But not Bitty. She is very persistant. We separated her from the other dogs, moving her crate to the living room, & even tried latching the door to her crate, hoping she would settle if she was confined, & ignored, with out the pot of 3 other dogs to stir with her barking. But no. She is bound & determined to wake the whole bloody neighborhood @ 4 am! **This started, BTW, after our neighbor's wife died suddenly, & I know Bitty is missing her, she is very attached to our next door neighbors*** So, in desperation, we put the TV on to keep her company...which seemed to work. Until the other day, when she started barking randomly again. After watching her for a couple of days, I found out why she's barking.....she doesn't like one particular commercial....the nicotine replacement commercial where the shark is chewing on the guys arm....everytime the shark jumps out of the water & bites the guy, she goes nuts! I can't decide if she's upset that the shark is biting the guy, or if she wants to be the shark biting the guy......LOL! Ahhhh...what would life be like with out these crazy dogs???? jackie harris (I just had to share)

">embed>                  I'm not sure if this worked, but I tried to insert a link to the commercial on youtube.....if it didn't work you can just put Great White Shark nicotine commercial in the youtube browser, & it comes up......I think someone involved in Schutzhund thought that commercial up anyway.....the guy being chewed on looks like a helper! jackie harris Nope...didn't work....can't seem to load any pix today either....hmmmmm....

I'd take her diving to find out for sure, but I just sold most of my gear!  LOL, too funny.

LOL..... Jackie,

Mine like to wake me up too in the middle of the night, usually something going on outside.
Try a radio instead of TV, something easy to listen to.

Perhaps the commercial is so idiotic the dog can't stand it.  I get that way too with TV commercials..lol

Smart dog....

LOL Jackie! That is too funny (sorry tho about her missing your neighbor, my condolences)
Funny the things  that upset the dogs, but cool that you figured out what it was. With my Lina it's the fierce wind we occasionally get. Yep the wind...sigh.. Gets her all edgy...

Jackie

Molly takes exception to the Beggin Strips Commercial.  She runs to the TV everytime she hears that bag open and then goes crazy.  Not fun when I am on a call for work.  She has almost knocked over the pictures and vases that or on top of the tv console trying to get to the TV!  Once the commerical is over, she calms down.  It is funny when she is in the foyer sleeping and that commercial comes on.  She comes running out like there is an evil intruder that must be stopped!  It only happens with that darn commercial.
