RLHAR

I like my neighbor.

No really I do, he's a quiet gentleman, divorced with nice boys, always willing to lend a neighborly hand if we need something and he likes dogs.

He's a live and let live type of guy and I appreciate that.

The problem is he has a dog who is going to end up killed by my male shepherd if he doesn't start keeping her out of my yard.

She's a nice dog, he rescued her but she's skittish and doesn't like to be caught.  His yard isn't fenced and she roams loose no skin off my nose, except she digs her way under my fence to get into my yard.

My FENCED yard, where my dogs live.

I've had to electrify the fence to keep my female GSD and my lab from going out under the fence where this rescue dog leaves holes in the wire but the problem is my young male.

He's currently 9 months old and he HATES this dog.  He is kept in a fenced yard and is not dog agressive but I can understand his point, she's coming onto HIS territory when she comes into my yard.  He's only 9 months old and is already showing signs that one of these days, if he catches her he's going to do her some serious damage.

I've warned my neighbor to this effect, that as he gets older, if his dog keeps coming into my FENCED yard, she could get seriously injured.

The dog keeps running loose.

Put the hot wire on the outside.

I also have neighbor issues who just let their huskey out at all times.  My one female fence runs and they fight thru the fence.  I had to put another row of fencing witin my yard to keep them seperate. Since you ran an electric fence as well - would it work if you neighbor purchased an extra collar from you?  Maybe this would keep her away from your fence and digging holes along it.

The hot wire is tied to a collar Two Moons.

Cheryl you might have the right idea.

No,
I mean run a hotwire around the outside perimeter with a ground wire beside it on insulators six inches off the ground ten inches from the fence.
I prefer a weed wacking charger for effect.

Oh well,
It might be easier to just make the dog disappear.

I hate my neighbors....

Moons,

I like the way you think...

If only you could set it up to zap the ignorant neighbour, too!

Moons idea is a good one around my pigeon lofts in the UK i had such a wire on top of my stockade fence all four sides, it was to stop Cats and Foxes climbing over and it worked perfectly till i moved over to Belgium and left it intact
No reason why you cannot do it at ground level with the hot wire the earth a few inches above fixed to the fence then as she goes to dig she touches both the earth and the hot wire, She will not do it many times getting a Ting before she stops  You can but the animal ones easy enough
Me i made up my own just 6'' nails drove in along the fence at intervals then electric insulation tape round each one the electric flex wrapped round connected to a battery unit the earth wire connect to the live an copper earth rod in the ground and that was it worked a treat and as i am a devious sort i wanted to know if it worked so i told my Brother unknowing to him to touch it he did and it worked a treat,  he jumped a bit for a second or two  YEP' i said it works then i did a Runner

I too have problems with loose dogs - if I go in my yard they come and bark at me and what ever dog I have on a leash and when I ride my bike with my dog - they charge us.  This is making my dogs very dog aggressive as well as me.  I even jumped off my bike at one point and kicked the dog in the head.  So I would love to hear suggestions as well on these issues.

Yogie
The only way is to fence your yard in but when you go outside the problem will still be there with the dogs coming at you and your Pups, Short of calling the Powers to be to get the owners of these dogs to control them what else is there,
Here is one suggestion but i do not know if such a thing can be purchased, What about a unit in form of a tube which will omit a electric Ting hand held if such a device is around you can then zap the dogs as they attack after a few times of getting stung they will keep clear of you and your dogs, For that is not doing your dogs any good at all

www.wholesalemidwest.com/electric_prods.htm

(Wonders if this would be legal...if someone's dog were about to take a chunk out of me or one of my dogs, would it be justifiable to use something like this?)

Enforcement of dogs running at large seems to be much stricter in Canada than in the States. I've rarely ever had a problem with it. When I did, it was usually in rural areas, while riding my horse.
