My 12 month old male german shepehrd refuses to urinate anywhere but in our backyard. He doesn't mark when we go on walks and if we go to a dog show, he'll hold it for 12-14 hours until we get home (if needed). Our basset hound marks all the time so I'm not sure why my GSD hasn't learned the behavior. I actually don't mind him being like this except I worry that he'll get a bladder infection from trying to hold it for so long. I think he has some sort of pee fright!

we had a dog like that, he didn't go for 2 whole days, we were on vacation and traveling by car.
my husband finally stopped an a secluded stretch of road and took a pee in the bushes, and the dog followed his lead........the dog peed for a very long time and sighed and groaned in relief.
it was never a problem again.
