Skin supplement to help itchy skin?

What supplements do you guys use to help with dry, itchy skin for your dogs? My little terrier has itchy skin, but has no fleas or redness. What can I give him to help make him less itchy?

I just started giving him Missing Link, a daily vitamin given to me by my vet, and a glucosamine supplement. My Shepherd gets the same things as well.

Franquie, some people swear by salmon oil, but I always found that it made my dogs itch more. Maybe it will work for your terrier.

I was concidering Salmon Oil, but gee, I don't want to make the poor guy MORE itchy haha.

Well, another thing to try is raw eggs a couple times a week.

Oooh, never thought of that. And this dog will literally eat ANYTHING so I'm sure he'd love that! He only weighs about 14 pounds. Is that something I could do every day, or would that be bad for him?

You can actually get eggs with Omega-3 (the chickens are fed special food), which is one of the main benefits of salmon oil. I've found them at Costco cheaper than anywhere else. I've never had an issue giving my dogs salmon oil, but if a dog already has itchy skin I wouldn't want to try anything that will make it worse.

Awesome. I'll have to grab some eggs with Omega-3 tomorrow. Is it OK to give a 14 pound dog an entire egg every day?

I only give an egg maybe two or three times a week, and to larger dogs.

I had a Min Pin that ITCHED all the time It aggrivated me. LoL. She scrathed so much that her fur was falling. I gave her a little vitamin E oil in her food each day. Just enough to coat the food lightly. I saw results in 2 weeks her fur started growing back and she slowed on her scratching. Good Luck
