Took the pup to the self-service dog wash at Petco yesterday and all was going pretty well at first.  Was able to coax him up the ramp and into the tub with treats,  He wasn't crazy about the whole bath idea but put up with it well and even slipped me the tongue a couple of times during the process.  Then, things got a little crazy...

A friend of mine who used to work at a kennel had always told me how great the high velocity driers they use were for blowing out the undercoat so I was looking forward to trying it out.  It really wasn't that much fun.  Combine a high drive, self confident pup who's more than willing to defend himself with a loud machine with a big black hose that's moving a lot of air and you get a Tasmanian devil on the end of a leash.  Fortunately, I did not get bit but considering I'm trying to hang onto the leash with one hand and the hose with the other that he's lunging at trying to kill, I can see how it could happen.  Needless to say, he was still wet when we left the store...sure wish I had a video!  Yikes!

LOL, I had the same experience recently while bathing Brenna (4 month old) pup at the dog wash at Pet Supplies Plus.  She thought the dryer hose was something that needed to be stopped.  I think I left with more water on me than the pup.

"She thought the dryer hose was something that needed to be stopped."

LOL!  This describes what I experienced exactly!

Keith, conjuring up pictures of you trying to hold the dog in one hand and hose in the other, so funny, where's that extra pair of hands when you need them!!!

Thats a common response from dogs that arent used to being groomed. Try using a shop vac if you have one that will blow out to get the dog used to the force of the air hitting him. Those dryers are GOD SENDS when it comes time to blow coat . Would have loved to have been there.

This is precisely why I prefer paying someone ELSE to do the "wet work"...while I do something fun, like clean the kennel. LOL

How funny, the same thing just happened to me! I work at a kennel and we use the same dryer. I was giving my little girl her first bath on Friday, and the little witch went after the dryer, very pissed, and gave my finger a nice slice with those puppy teeth when she clamped on to the hose. Fun times.

See what I mean?  I was totally dancing with mean ass trying to stay out of the line of ire.
