One of the giants in the sport of Schutzhund, Dean Calderon, will be available for private, semi-private and club training at Keystone-Buckeye Hundesport, (north of of Pittsburgh, PA) on May 22-23 and 29-30. Depending upon interest level, Dean may be available on a weekly basis in the Pittsbrugh area.

For years I thought Dean got high tracking scores because he had
a good tracking dog. But over time I realized Dean was just really
good at teaching dogs to track. I would say that if he were to change
his obedience, an protection routines slightly, and train dogs that
are higher in civil drive. He would easily over take anyone competing
in Schutzhund today. But in Tracking he is one of the best, if not the
best. Dean's biggest problem is his ego, and his temper.

How does that work for the dogs....ie his temper? Especially for tracking which I think requires patience.

Dean does not lose his temper with the dogs, I should have clarified that.
Dean has been working dogs longer than anybody I know in The USA,
he is a veteran dog trainer. He has come so close to what I would say
being the best, except for a couple of human flaws, which we all have.
You should try to go to a clinic of his, if he is organized that day
you will be very happy you did. He is a pretty good speaker. And if
you need tracking tips, improvement, or just learning, he is the best.
Dean Calderon is a World Class competitor. And has beat the
best dogs in world in tracking. He is a National USA Champion as well.
In tracking skills, I would put him against anyone in the world.

Dean puts on a super seminar. Personal issues/Politics kept him from being well received here in the Great Northwest.

Wolf,
I think Dean's dog Verdi is as civil as they come! I have had the pleasure of watching Dean and Verdi at training when he lived in Oklahoma. Our club was one of the first clubs in the US that got to see Verdi and his civil agression is impressive! I love that Verdi, he is a VERY powerful dog!
Big news from me coming soon!!!

Powerhaus,
You may be right, I see why Dean likes this dog. but the
dogs that I really!!!! like!!! off that type of breeding, are Angel Lopez's dog,
Satoris Gator and his brother Satoris Saro. These are what Dean
had with Rex, his best dog. Saro's in my opinion, could be turning 290's
all day every day with the right training. Wolfgang gets allot SG
scores but Saro's is a V dog all the way, I don't want to critize.
These are world class dogs. They are civil by my standards.
If Dean Calderon or Gary Hanrahan had Gator or Saro, they
USA team would not have there butts handed to them. These
are working dogs. And both of them just happen to be beautiful
dogs. Not the other way around.
But I don't know anything about Verdi, if Dean says he's a good
dog, he is a good dog. Rex was a good, that is a given.
