A friend of mine recently was giving her dog(Dobe) bread ie bagels and wheat bread as a treat ( give 1/2 bagels to dogs every morning (plain or blueberry). Well, the dog started losing weight, so she turned around and made satin balls (which contains Molasses) the dogs sugar spiked and was hospitalized. She has diabetie(sp) now and has to take two shots a day. There is no other cause of it in her lines and is very unheard of in this breed.
Sitting and reading a dog treat cook book tonight, I noticed that they use ALOT of sugar products ie peanut butter, juice, molasses ect. That got me to thinking How much sugar is too much for a dog?
Sugar is not good in our diet so I would figure it would be very unhealthy to a dog as I would not see in the wild where sugars would be apart of their diets.
Thought or opinios ?

Black Strap Molasses is actually good for dogs and people.Helps with the heart. I wouldn't say that what she fed the dog would be the cause. Maybe somewhere in the lines there was a dog that had Diabetes and it happened ti come up.I hope that she fed more then just the bread and bagels. Maybe the dog food that was fed caused the issue.
