PowerHaus

Today I had a lady bring a 3 year old female GSD to me that they are tired of trying to keep out of trouble.  The dog runs the fence, chases horses, kills chickens(actually just runs them to death) and in general is a pain in the butt for these people.  From all appearances this dog is very under fed.  She probably could gain 20 lbs.

This dog came from a breeder who is in my area that cranks out puppies and sells them for $350 with no regard of what the family situation is.  This breeder does have nice pedigrees but has no idea about how to place puppies in appropriate homes nor do they do health clearances!  Sigh..........................this poor poor dog!  I am glad she didn't get a bullet in the head which is what most "rednecks" around here would do with a problem dog!

Oh, by the way, she really isn't a "problem dog" just high drive and needs a job.  I have had her about an hour and have already taught her to sit and platz.  She is very good with the nose so might try her in some tracking in the morning.

Hi Vickie,

Your right about one thing, people will shoot dogs when they get after livestock.

Maybe not bad breeders, just people who care more for the $350.00 than the dog.
Oh well, same thing I guess.

Glad you have the dog.

Good to see you post,
Moons.

Hope she turns out less destructable with your dedication and work with her.  People like you are so admirable by helping troublesome dogs.  Good luck and keep us updated with her progress.

Have you a name for her and some pictures to follow?

Sounds like people here.  My brother in law and rednecks included will shoot any dog without hesitation if it becomes too sick (they never take their dogs to the vet) or if it gives them a problem.  Unfortunately the eye for an eye concept doesn't really apply with animals.

She is actually a great dog, I think she just needed some mental stimulation!  So far So good!

I am so thankful for people like you who take these dogs in and try to find them an appropriate forever home, whether it is with you or someone else.  Thank you!

Like my grandfather allways said you have to be smarter than the dog in the first place and some people just are not.
