Pharaoh

by Pharaoh on 12 May 2010 - 03:05

I sold my house and everything is getting boxed up.  The moving truck comes tomorrow at 8 AM.  We will be staying at a hotel for a month or more while my new house is being built.

Today I moved out the large plants in my house to "foster homes".  There has been a tremendous amount of activity.  Nothing is normal anymore.

This evening I checked into the hotel and brought a few things into  the room.  Pharaoh waited in the car.  He is used to relaxing in the car.  But nothing is normal anymore.

I got back into the car, grabbed my seatbelt and it felt damp.  Then I noticed that he had been sitting in the front seat and I guess, nervously chewing on my seat belt.

Any suggestions?

Put him in a crate. I'll bet $ he doesn't eat another seatbelt.

I don't think you have a problem,
he is probably feeling the excitement and maybe a bit of your own anxiety.

Someone may have even approached the car in your absence.

Sounds like a grand adventure, perhaps a few head aches.

Our dog (the one in my sig) chewed completely through one of the shoulder belts in our station wagon. This was even with a doggy barrier between her and the back seat. She was still able to get enough of her head through it to reach the rear shoulder belts.

I would crate him. I think it's the only safe solution in this case. I had to buy a crate for my female GSD after she locked me out of the car!

Dar did that when he was younger. Can't remember if there was anything going on or he was just borde and pissed that I didn't bring him in with me. He usually likes sitting in the back of the Tahoe. If it is open he will go in there. Maybe Pharaoh is just borde being in there.Does he have something to chew on other then your seat belt? Where did you settle on moving to? Hope all goes well.

Michele, I bet it has to do with all the changes that has been going on. Some dogs do well with change and others just don't. I would invest in a crate for his own protection and your cars too.

Anytime I hear about a dog chewing up a car I think about this movie,
don't wanna hi-jack your thread.

Watch if you want, or just ignore it.

My favorite part is the end when Jerry Lee gets a bath.

Thanks Brent, I really need a laugh or two at this point.

My eyes are swimming and I am going to sleep on my wonderful bed.  Tomorrow my dux bed goes into storage.  I will miss it so I will sleep in comfort tonight.

I wouldnt dream of leaving my dog in confined area with lots of stuff to chew on.  Crate is the answer.

I had forgotten about that movie - LMAO..... Michelle I hope you are only in that hotel for a month - building a house can sometimes take some unexpected turns - that room will close in on you fast.  I lived in a camper for 5 months with 3 kids while we built our house - I won't step in one to this day....lol

Good Luck
