I live in the U.S.A.,northern burbs of Chicago, I had purchased a Hovawart from Denmark last year. I have been trying to get my dog registered through the U.K.C.,but have been denied. My dog's litter & puppy registration is with the Continental Kennel Club and is not recognized by the U.K.C.. They suggested to get him registered through one of their approved registries. My question is this, is it possible to re-register a dog? I have tried to contact the F.C.I.,Continetnal Kennel Club & the U.S.A. Hovawart Club for information and have had no response from anyone. I am in a shutzhund club and have to register him with the working dogs of america to compete in trials & to obtain a scorebook. I don't want to register him as a mix breed!! I know there are not many Hovawarts in the states but I can't believe it is this hard to get a dog registered. My breeder has been very helpful for the last 6 plus months, we are out of suggestions or possibilities. No one in my club has had this kind of issue and I have exhausted everything I know to try. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Are the sire & dam duel registerd? With a Denmark registry? If yes the breeder could register them with that one and send u the export pedigree this would be the only way to get the dog UKC registerd.
What i dont under stand is how or why a breeder in Denmark would register there dogs with CKC!!?

Is it possible to re-register with F.C.I. who is accepted by U.K.C ? I know they won't accept d.n.a. kits, I don't want to nueter him unless it's medically necessary. This is so frustrating, I'm new into the sport. Just trying to have fun with my dog and let him enjoy his work. Thank you very much for responding, good or bad I'm just trying to get some information.

the only way to do that is if mom and Dad are registerd with a FCI registration. Then the breeder could register the litter with that registration but then agen i dont know how denmark works. If there has to come a breed warden to look at the litter before the litter will be registerd or if it works like in the US where u just register a litter.
But the way it looks ur stuck with CKC.
