For those of you with unaltered females, LSC's even, do they lose all their coat when they come in season?
Mine came in heat at the end of January, lost her coat, and is now in heat again, -4 months later and has lost all of her coat . She looks quite funny actually, and appears dull coated, (for whatever coat is left, not much!)
In January I thought it was the dog food, so I switched to a top of the line brand, however, she looks the same 4 months later.

I can't say there is any rhyme or reason to this for sure.
My bitch who had a litter is coming in soon and she too is shedding for the second time since winter.

Thank you very kindly Ibrahim, you have a nice evening too! It is a beautiful day here, cool though, 9 C.
Thanks Moons, can't seem to win this hair war.

They usually do loose their coat when they go in to heat. Mine had a beautiful coat(not LC) and she lost it when she went in to heat and when she had her pups.

My bitches tend to lose their undercoats about 3-4 weeks before they come in season, and Nike and her daughters turn a blue-ish grey while they are shedding (it's like lots of powdery dandruff is kicked up); my sables don't seem to get this dandruffy stuff. Then right about when they come into heat, they start losing their topcoats, and the long guardhairs will come out in big handfuls if you tug on them.
My males just seem to shed undercoats in the spring, then again in the fall, over much longer periods of time; as the saying goes, they shed twice a year, for 6 months each. :)

I agree with she 2 times a year for 6 months each. My current bitch, who is rather male-ish in looks and actions doesn't seem to she much more when in heat than when not. She has just came through her 3 rd heat and other than her spring shed not much more . She hasn't had any remarkable sheds through any of her heats but then again these damn German Shepherds seem to she daily no matter what you do. I wish someone would invent a chemical that would stop the shedding LOL.
I use a furminator and german rake on her all the time

Yes, Christine, sounds very much like her, only she being a sable has that powdery dandruff. She looks like she has a poodle cut.

Red don't take this the wrong way, but your background is in focus and not your dog and make it a wee smaller. Can't see the second one at al.
